4 Things That You Should Know About Kalanggaman Island

Now that Summer is officially here, people are going crazy about planning their next Summer Escapades! One of the beach bums favorite destinations, locals and foreigners alike, is the Kalanggaman Island. Social media has increased the hype about this tropical island paradise but there are things that some pictures that you saw in Instagram can't tell you. Read on to find out!

Before heading to Kalanggaman Island, here are the things that you need to know:

1. Kalanggaman is an island that belongs to the municipality of Palompon, Leyte. You will be charged to pay Php 150 for a day tour on the island and Php 250 if you are staying overnight.

2. The island does not offer luxurious accommodation, so bring your tent if you want to stay overnight. Bring food, water, personal toiletries and paper plates.

3. If in case you forget to bring tent, that's okay, you can rent a tent from the care taker at Php 400 only. It's enough to accommodate up to 4 people.

4. HOW TO GET THERE?
via MALAPASCUA ISLAND in CEBU
This is the famous route for people coming from Cebu and beneficial in many ways. You get to experience the beauty of two beautiful islands in one day. The rate is justifiable but you will be spending much time and money already getting to Malapascua. Once you arrived in Malapascua island you will be swarmed with guides offering day tours to Kalanggaman island. This route is best experienced in a group.

CEBU (NORTH BUS TERMINAL) to MAYA PORT via BUS : Php 170.00 ( rate is subject to change ) for 4+ hours

MAYA PORT to MALAPASCUA via BOAT : Php 100.00 for 30 minutes

MALAPASCUA to KALANGGAMAN via BOAT : Rates per boat may vary depending in the number of people. The trip usually takes around 2 hours. The small boat which toured us around Malapascua island only asks Php 1500.00 for a day tour to Kalanggaman which has a capacity of four people but this is not advisable for faint hearted because the waves going to Kalanggaman is really strong and will surely rock this boat badly but there are life vests in the boat lol...

via SIOCON in CEBU
This the standard route for people coming from Cebu.

CEBU (NORTH BUS TERMINAL) to BOGO via BUS : Php 120.00 ( rate is subject to change ) for 3 hours

BOGO to SIOCON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL via TRICYCLE : Php 15.00

SIOCON to KALANGGAMAN via BOAT : Php 9,500.00 boat rental with 20 people capacity for 3 - 4 hours. Registration here may add an additional Php 100.00 from the regular rates of Kalanggaman.

via MACTAN in CEBU
Your group can rent a boat for a round trip overnight package straight from Mactan, Cebu to Kalanggaman and back. Price can range from P15,000 to Php 20,000.
